![]() | We hope this may be a useful, if unusual, way to highlight an underrated, or even neglected side of hobby radio. Our knowledge on it is often incomplete and rather difficult to gather info about. In the following paragraphs we deal with [1] a unique opportunity, some enthusiastic thrust [2] and even some puzzling ideas [3], but the dish will be finally served with unswerving hope [4]. [1] It's a unique opportunity to enjoy the present Sun activity which is at its lowest after 100 years. This is extremely important for frequencies under 10 MhZ, which has always been the most unpredictable of all frequency bands. Thus we have an opportunity to enlarge our knowledge. [2] This will enable the Piancada listeners' team (near Udine) [http://www.mcdxt.it], to analyze over 80 listening sessions, carrying out close comparisons with sunspots, flares and other sun-related data. [3] You get puzzled by the amount of data when you want to wade deep in Cosmology, Astronomy, Physics and so on: the bulk of data available on the net is astonishing and you may get the typical the-more-I-know-the-less-I-get-it feeling. We will have to try to sum up numberless and often mind-boggling experiences. We'll have to take care of telling what is really useful from what isn't. [4] In the Proceedings section we'll be only too glad to accept all the most varied reports and essays on the matter, even apparently odd and no-mainstream ones, along with figures and graphs. We feel everything can be of use in building a new knowledge wall. Finally, what's your (and our) ultimate aim? We won't be claiming to be all-understanding and knowledgeable. Enlarged basic knowledge and thorough observations will be enough. We think this may lead us to some firmer land in propagation forecasts and markings, to be used in our daily listening activity. Space weather and radio waves propagation are huge but intriguing subjects, largely yet to be unveiled and developed. We welcome your help and your assistance. |
